Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

In recent years, with the rapid development of the economy and society, water pollution and water shortages have become restrictive factors for social and economic development. Emerging environmental nanotechnology with nanomaterials as the core, such as adsorption, advanced oxidation, membrane separation, and capacitive deionization (CDI), has shown great application prospects in the field of water treatment. Among these technologies, photocatalysis is blooming in the field of energy and environment due to its multifaceted applications, such as in pollutant degradation, water splitting, fuel conversion, antimicrobial activities, etc. Metal nanoparticle (MNP)/metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) are a new type of crystalline hybrid porous material due to their regular pores, high specific surface area (~10000 m2 g-1), and super-large pores. The advantages of capacity (nearly 90% of its own volume), structural diversity, and other advantages give it excellent porous structure characteristics, which have attracted wide attention from researchers in the field of water treatment and have become a frontier hotspot in the field of environment and ecology in recent years.

In order to better promote the development of the application of MNP/MOF materials in the field of water treatment, a Special Issue on “Advanced Photocatalysts Based on Metal Nanoparticle/Metal–Organic Framework Composites” has been launched in Catalysts. The scope of the call for papers includes (but is not limited to) the following research directions: the synthesis strategies of MNP/MOF composites; the application of MNP/MOF in water treatment (photocatalytic hydrogen production, carbon dioxide reduction, organic transformation reactions and photodegradation of pollutants, etc.); adsorption (organic pollutants, heavy metals, radioactive ions); advanced oxidation (photocatalysis, Fenton, sulfate radical, ozone, etc.); membrane separation; capacitor deionization (seawater desalination, heavy metal removal, etc.); research in other related fields of water treatment.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at mdpi.longhoe.net by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Catalysts is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2700 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
