Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Over the years, we have seen remarkable scientific advancements being made in pediatric surgical pathology, from AI-based models to innovative minimally invasive surgical techniques. These breakthroughs are gradually translating into tangible benefits for our patients. However, there are still significant gaps in our knowledge and areas for improvement that we must address.

Pediatric acute appendicitis, the most frequent urgent surgical pathology worldwide, continues to pose challenges despite advances being made in the last decade. There is still a significant diagnostic error rate and variability in perioperative management. Your research in this field has the potential to not only enhance diagnostic accuracy and perioperative management but to also directly improve patient outcomes. We are counting on your expertise to make a difference.

We are delighted to invite you to contribute to this Special Issue of Children. This Special Issue is not only focused on compiling the most groundbreaking and novel advances in diagnosing and managing pediatric acute appendicitis but it is also dedicated to sha** the future of our field. We are particularly interested in works that explore the etiopathogenic and pathophysiologic aspects of disease, evaluate novel biomarkers and scores for this pathology, and optimize postoperative management.

We look forward to receiving your contributions.
