Dear Colleagues,
Translational research has significantly advanced our understanding and clinical management of gynecological malignancies in recent years. Our current comprehension of pathogenetic pathways highlights the remarkable heterogeneity of this landscape, driving the exploration of novel targets and emerging treatment modalities to address this complexity.
This Special Issue aims to gather research papers that delve into pathogenetic pathways, the intricate interplay of the immune system, and innovative approaches to cancer therapy within gynecologic oncology. The Cancer Genome Atlas initiative has deeply contributed to the body of knowledge regarding the molecular aspects of gynecological neoplasms, particularly in endometrial cancer. Moreover, encouraging advances have been seen in immunotherapy for endometrial cancer. The discovery of new potential targets like the folate receptor offers new hopes in the treatment of platinum-resistant ovarian cancer, where the benefit from current treatment options is highly limited. Despite progress in cervical cancer due to screening strategies and vaccines, challenges persist, including ensuring broader access to primary prevention and improving outcomes for patients with recurrent and advanced disease.
We warmly invite experts in the field to contribute their insights, particularly those focusing on elucidating the fundamental mechanisms of pathogenesis, identifying novel therapeutic targets, and unraveling the intricate role of the immune system in gynecologic oncology. Your contributions will play a crucial role in advancing our understanding and enhancing clinical outcomes in this pivotal area of research.
