Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

In the realm of material science, chiral materials have garnered immense attention over the past few years due to their unique properties and functionalities, which stem from their inherent handedness. These materials exhibit exceptional optical, catalytic, and pharmacological activities, making them indispensable in a myriad of applications that range from advanced optoelectronics to biosensing, asymmetric synthesis, and nanomedicine. Their ability to interact selectively with chiral molecules has propelled research into their synthesis and application, fostering innovations across numerous scientific disciplines.

This Special Issue is dedicated to exploring cutting-edge advancements in the synthesis and application of chiral materials. Our aim is to compile a comprehensive collection of the most recent breakthroughs, innovative synthesis methodologies, and practical application scenarios that underscore the versatility and significance of these materials. Through this platform, we aspire to facilitate a deeper understanding of chiral material design, accelerate the development of synthesis techniques, and enhance their utility across scientific research and industrial sectors.

Topics of interest encompass, but are not restricted to, the following: novel strategies and mechanisms in the synthesis of chiral materials; exploration of natural and synthetic sources for chirality induction; advancements in characterization techniques for chiral structures; exploitation of chiral materials in asymmetric catalysis for green chemistry; their application in chiroptical devices and advanced optical systems; the role of chiral materials in pharmaceuticals; and the integration of chiral materials with other advanced materials for enhanced or unprecedented functionalities.

Contributions that delve into both the theoretical foundations and experimental aspects of chiral materials are warmly invited. We encourage submissions that shed light on the intricate design principles, elucidate the distinct performance attributes, and highlight the promising applications of these fascinating materials.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at mdpi.longhoe.net by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Molecules is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2700 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
