Dear Colleagues,

The objective of this Special Issue is to explore the latest advancements and innovative approaches in vibration system monitoring for real-time train and track condition assessment. As railway networks undergo continuous growth and modernization, maintaining safe, reliable, and efficient train operations becomes increasingly critical. Vibration monitoring systems play a crucial role in this regard, providing vital data on the dynamic interactions between trains and tracks.

This Special Issue aims to gather high-quality research papers and reviews that focus on the development, implementation, and application of vibration monitoring technologies. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Sensor Technologies: advanced vibration sensor designs and placements for real-time train and track condition monitoring.
  • Signal Processing Techniques: real-time data acquisition and processing techniques for feature extraction and fault diagnosis.
  • Data Analytics and Predictive Modelling: Data-driven approaches to predict track degradation, wheel wear, and other potential failure modes. This includes the use of machine learning and artificial intelligence for predictive maintenance.
  • Practical Applications: Case studies and field applications highlighting the challenges and solutions in the deployment of vibration system monitoring in diverse rail environments.
  • System Integration: The integration of vibration monitoring with other condition monitoring systems.

We invite contributions from researchers, engineers, and industry professionals who are at the forefront of this field, with the goal of advancing the state of the art in train and track condition monitoring. This Special Issue will serve as a comprehensive resource of the latest research and developments, fostering collaboration and innovation in the railway industry.

All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process.
